Meet the Speakers

Dr. Ramaiah is a pediatric emergency medicine physician & a child abuse pediatrician. She is currently an assistant professor of Pediatrics at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. She has been faculty at the University of Chicago since 2000 where she began her career in pediatric emergency medicine. Over the years, she developed an interest in child abuse & neglect & became board certified in this subspecialty in 2013.

Joan has been an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, Illinois since January, 1989. Since 2007 she has been the Chief of the Child Protection Division of the Juvenile Justice Bureau. Her Division is responsible for screening cases brought by DCFS, hospitals and others & filing Petitions as appropriate. The members of the State’s Attorneys Child Protection Division staff are responsible for prosecuting all Petitions as well as working with all other agencies involved in the cases.

Dan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & has served as Senior Vice-President & Clinical Director for CAC of Collin County since 2000. Dan received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from University of North Texas, a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Texas at Arlington & a Certificate in Non-Profit leadership from Southern Methodist University. He supervises a staff of 22 therapists & clinical interns providing no cost services to victims.
