The Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center is seeking applicants to fill the position of “Forensic Interviewer.”
Responsibilities: The position’s chief duties are to conduct all forensic interviews for victims whose investigations are coordinated by the CAC. This includes travel to our satellite centers in Christian and Logan counties as well. The Forensic Interviewer is responsible for writing reports after each interview and communicating outcomes with the team following interviews. There will be times when the forensic interviewer will be subpoenaed to provide to testimony and defend their forensic interview in court.
Requirements:
• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field and have 3 years of experience as a forensic interviewer;
• Formal training in forensic interviewing techniques of children and adolescents (ChildFirst protocol) by recognized training organization is preferred;
• Previous experience and training conducting forensic interviews of child victims of physical and sexual abuse is preferred;
• Prior experience working with a Children's Advocacy Center and multidisciplinary team is preferred;
• General knowledge of child protection, child development, how children disclose abuse, and other dynamics associated with child abuse/neglect;
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children and adolescents, ranging in age from toddlers to 17 years of age;
• Superb interpersonal skills; high level of cultural competence
Skills: Skills and Knowledge required are: incumbent should be well versed in principals of forensic interviewing protocols, skilled in report writing and have great attention to detail; have an excellent ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as individually and have a high standard of confidentiality
Benefits: Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours FLSA non-exempt Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with experience, 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 paid personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 12 paid holidays per year. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the ChildFirst Forensic Interviewer training and background check.
